MTI History & Milestones

  • The founder Dr. Xiao P. Jiang received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1988. He was a post-doctoral researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) under the supervisor of Prof. M.C. Flemings. During his time in academia, he published more than 30 papers on the topic of High Tc superconductors and crystals.

  • MTI Corporation starts to produce single-crystal substrates for the manufacture of superconductor film.

  • MTI sets up a joint venture in Hefei, China to produce LaAlO3, SrTiO3, MgO and other single-crystal boules and substrates.

  • New Focus Inc. invests 5 million dollars in MTI to produce single crystals and optical components for fiber optics. MTI becomes one of the major manufacturers of oxide single crystals, substrates, and optical components in the world.

  • MTI donates two CZ crystal growth systems to Stanford Research Institute and California State University in LA valued at $600,000 in total.

  • The 'fiber optics bubble' bursts. MTI develops many new crystals substrates for III-V and II-V, such as LSAT, Spinel, CdWO4, CdTe etc, and continues to be profitable.

  • MTI continues growing and reaches record high sales. MTI's high-temperature furnaces is introduced to the global market.

  • MTI donates USD $400,000 worth sets of equipment for material research from mixing, pressing, sintering, cutting, polishing and X-ray analysis and two sets of crystal growers to the Department of Material science and Engineering, Northeastern University in Shenyang, China, where Dr. X.P. Jiang received his BS and MS degrees.

  • MTI's factory in Hefei, China moves into a 100,000 sq. ft. facility and plans to expand the lab furnace production line for mass production.

  • MTI develops and supplies new crystal wafers, including Ge up to 4', InSb, and InAs up.

  • MTI moves into a new 30,000 sq. ft. facility in Richmond, California, USA, and achieves record sales once again.

  • MTI develops the extra high-temperature furnace (GSL1800X) and gas mixing system with furnaces, becoming one of the major suppliers of laboratory furnaces for material research MTI donated a USD $100,000 worth set of lab equipment to the Department of Material Science Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

  • MTI Corporation reorganizes company stock shares and establishes the global group 'KEJING GROUP'. Members are located in the USA and China and providing equipment and related service all over the world.   • - MTI develops a series of battery research equipment and becomes a world-leading supplier for battery research, including an automatic coating machines for battery electrodes, pressure-controlled rolling machines, and compact PECVD systems. MTI achieved 11 China to protect our advanced technology.

    - MTI & KJ group donates ~USD $100K worth of lab equipment to Prof. Goodenough group at the University of Taxes, Austin to appreciate their outstanding research on energy storage material and fast ion conductive material.     • MTI obtains CE Certification for EQ-Unipol Series 3" -15" Polishing machines. The authorized documents are showing below:
    • MTI-KJ group collaborates with the Institute of Solid Physics, Chinese Academy Science to set up a "Laboratory of Advanced Thine Film Research in Hefei, to commercialize Epi thin film on the substrate".
    • MTI-KJ group collaborates with the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academic Science to set up a "Laboratory of Surface Modification of Biological Materials" at Shen-Yang.

    EQ-Unipol

  • MTI President, Dr. X.P. Jiang, sets up a Postdoctoral Award with the MRS. This award is announced at the MRS Spring Conference 2014 in San Francisco, CA.

    MTI's tube furnaces: OTF-1200X, VBF-1200X, GSL-1700X and high-pressure furnace have been passed CSA, UL, ETL, and TUV test and achieved individual certificate, which indicates MTI-KJ furnaces has reached the top level in the world

  • All MTI furnaces are built to the UL 6010 standard and provide UL, TUV, CSA ready service

  • MTI donates ~ $200K to the University of California, San Diego to establish the MTI-UCSD Battery Fabrication Lab, used by UCSD students and the Battery-500 team.

  • MTI & Jiang Family Foundation signed 5 years donation contract with ICT (International Conference of thermoelectrics) to sponsor the Thermoelectrics Workshop for education.
