OTF-1500X-S-ST is a compact high-temperature tensile strength tester via a small punch method, which can test the high-temperature mechanical strength of materials up to 1350°C via a small disc ( 8 mm dia ) quickly and economically.

Furnace
  • Compact and splittable tube furnace with Alumina fiber inner insulator and double-layer steel outer layer
  • Max. working temperature (continuous for 3 months) 1350°C
  • Temperature accuracy: +/- 0.1 °C (Euro-Therm controller available at extra cost)
  • The furnace is located in a vacuum chamber for atmosphere control.
Punch Die Fixture
& Sample
  • The fixture ( die) is made of recrystallized SiC
  • The fixture consists of two parts and tightens by M18x2 
  • The sample to be tested: 8 mm dia. x 0.5 mm thickness, which is tightened in the middle of the die.

Pushing Rod

  • Pushing rod is made of Moly via precision machining (Pic. 1)

  • An alignment connector is installed with the pushing rod to ensure 2.5 mm dia. head in the center of the SiC die. (Pic. 2)

Heating Furnace & Vacuum Chamber 



  • Special MoSi2 heating elements are built in a split-able furnace with thermal insulation.
  • Mac. working Temperature 
  • 1300°C continuously
  • 1350°C for < 1 hr
  • The heating furnace is fixed in the vacuum-sealed chamber with a hinged type door
  • Working gas: All types of inert gas and oxygen gas. 
  • Max. Vacuum level: 10-2 torr by a mechanical pump and 10-5 torr by turbopump. Please click the pictures below to choose a pump and digital vacuum gauge separately. (Pic. 1-2), and digital vacuum gauge (Pic.3)
  • For better atmosphere control, please choose the gas purification system below (pic 4) to reduce oxygen and humidity less than 1 ppm.

Temperature Control

  • Built-in PID Auto-Tune function with overheating & broken thermocouple broken protection.
  • Over-temperature protection and alarm allow for operation without attendant(s).
  • +/- 1 ºC temperature accuracy.
  • RS485 Communications Port to connect a laptop with operation software.

Fixture for Yield Strength


  • The pressure is applied to the pushing rod via heavy-duty DC motor.
  • Constant loading speed is driven by a step motor with 2,000N Max. force
  • Loading speed: 0.02 to 60 mm/ minute adjustable
  • Load sensor accuracy +/- 0.2 N
  • The displacement sensor is built-in with +/- 1-micron accuracy
 Control Panel
  • A laptop computer will be used as a control panel with software to program working temperature and pushing rod speed
  • One computer will control 4 sets of the machine. 
  • Software is included, but the Laptop computer is optional at the extra cost.
  • The PC will display and record the force vs displacement for each sample at a set temperature.

Optional

  • Multi machines controlled by a single PC is available for high-throughput research
