YVO4 is a birefringent crystal for fiber optics. YVO4 is an ideal material for optical polarizing components such as fiber-optic isolators, beam displacers, and circulators because of its wide transparency range and large birefringence. Its medium hardness makes it particularly suitable for high-quality polishing and optical finishing.
MTI Corporation has set up a joint venture with Anhui Optics Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, KMT Co. Ltd., located in Hefei, China, and has been producing high-quality, low-cost YVO4 single crystals and related components since 1997. Depending on customer requirements, crystal boules up to approximately 30 mm diameter × 35 mm length, as-cut blocks, or polished components with or without AR coating can be supplied.
MTI concentrates on the crystal business and does not manufacture fiber-optic devices in competition with its customers. MTI therefore aims to serve as a long-term partner for the fiber-optics industry.
